Director
Hillary Bukano
Hilary Bukuno is a founding member of Children Peace Initiative Kenya and the architect of the Peace Building program on Integrating Children in inter-ethnic conflict transformation. He holds a Masters Degree in Peace Education from United Nations Mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from Pontifical Urbanian University in Rome, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He is a seasoned peace practitioner with over ten years of experience in developing and implementing peace-building programs among the Pokot, Samburu, Turkana, Gabra, Borana and Rendille pastoral communities in Kenya.

Deputy Director
Monica Kinyua
A founding member of CPI Kenya, Monica is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar and holds a Masters Degree in Peace Studies from the University of San Diego. She earned her undergraduate degree in Social Ministry at Tangaza College. Monica honed her peace-building skills through consultancies with Caritas Marsabit and Maralal for more than 8 years among the Pokot, Samburu, Turkana, Gabra, Borana and Rendille pastoral communities in Kenya.

Program Manager
Jane Kinyua
Jane helped found CPI and has vast experience in development-related fields in Kenya and Tanzania. She worked as a Peace Consultant among pastoralist communities in Kenya and with young people acquitted of juvenile crime within Government of Kenya rehabilitation schools. She is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Peace Studies at the University of San Diego and has an undergraduate degree in Youth Ministry from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Purity Karimi
Purity Njeri Karimi is an accomplished Finance and Administration professional with extensive experience in managing donor-funded development programs in Kenya, particularly in peacebuilding, climate resilience, and community livelihoods. As the Finance & Administration Officer for the Climate-Smart Agriculture and Peacebuilding Project under Children Peace Initiative Kenya (CPI Kenya), Purity shall provide financial stewardship, operational oversight, and administrative leadership to ensure the project’s fiscal accountability, efficiency, and compliance with donor requirements. Purity has over 10 years of experience in financial management, program coordination, and institutional capacity strengthening. She has successfully designed and managed project budgets, coordinated audits, ensured compliance with procurement and financial policies, and supported program teams in planning and implementation. Her ability to bridge financial systems with field realities has been instrumental in achieving transparency and sustainability in multi-sectoral interventions that combine livelihood improvement, peacebuilding, and natural resource governance. In her current role at CPI-Kenya, Purity oversees project accounting, procurement, logistics, and human resource management ensuring efficient allocation and tracking of financial resources for field operations, infrastructure development, capacity-building initiatives, and community dialogues. She works closely with the Project Manager and technical leads to align expenditure with activity implementation, contributing directly to the project’s results framework and monitoring processes. Additionally, Purity coordinates both community-level activities and donor reporting. Academically, Purity holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainable Human Development from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. She has also undertaken professional qualifications in Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) and Kenya Accounting Technician Certificate (KATC I & II). Her training has equipped her with competencies in budgeting, auditing, financial reporting, SPSS data analysis, and digital accounting systems, all essential for results-based management.
